Vote John VUJCICH for
1 Far North District Council
- Are you concerned about rising rates and want more say and involvement in Council?
- Are you concerned about the quality of Council core services, such as roads, water, sewerage, and their costs?
- Do you want to see empowered communities, and greater local decsision-making that puts customers first?
Then it’s time to take action. Together we can help improve local democracy and create a a better District.
Privileged to serve you as your Councillor since 2013, I was born in the Hokianga, and live in Kaikohe. Elodie and I have been actively involved in business, training, and charitable projects in the Far North for many years.
My passion is to see prosperous, vibrant, and empowered communities.
WHY AM I STANDING?
My passion is to see thriving communities, assisted by effective local government delivering core services for less. Far North communities face many challenges. We have economic challenges, rising costs, climate change policies and international unrest that impact every business, farm and local community. Government’s Local Waters Done Well reform will reduce the size of Council and how sewerage and water services are delivered.
For me it’s essential to have a local government that has an outcome-focused culture that can deliver timely, innovative, and affordable services to its local communities. One that creates enabling policies and planning that makes it easier to build, do business, learn, work and play. Communities where people and families thrive.
I am a strategic and innovative thinker, outcome-focused, and have the commitment, skills, experience, strategies, and vision to help shape local government to ensure our District’s communities are well served.
Our region has amazing resources and opportunities - let’s build on them.
A CHALLENGING TIME FOR LOCAL COUNCILS
In the coming triennium we will face many challenges. We have increasing debt, rising prices and economic challanges for many ratepayers, including significant increases in rates. All New Zealand councils and their communities in New Zealand. This government and the previous government both felt the current state is not acceptable and that central goverment needs to make changes to local.
As a result we see 3 Waters reforms, currently called "Local Waters Done Well", that will see water and sewerage centralised regionally, RMA reform being prpgressed, possible reform of Regional Council, and talk of centralisation of planning functions.
These changes will permanently alter the nature of the Far North District Council and how services are provided and funded by rate payers.
